Akara Amantakul, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Urology in the Division of Urology at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He earned his Medical Degree from Chiang Mai University in 2012 and subsequently completed his residency to achieve a Diploma from the Thai Board of Urology in 2017. Dr. Amantakul focuses his clinical and academic efforts on Urologic Oncology. In 2024, he expanded his global expertise through international clinical observerships at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh. His area of research centers on advancing diagnostic and surgical outcomes in urologic cancers. Specifically, his work explores the performance of the Prostate Health Index (PHI) in prostate cancer detection, the clinical outcomes of abiraterone acetate for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, and the optimization of surgical outcomes for bladder cancer patients undergoing radical cystectomy. An active member of Thai Urological Association under the Royal Patronage, Dr. Amantakul balances his academic responsibilities with clinical practice at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.
